Seat options for a FIA??
Looking for a more comfortable seat for my Unique FIA. What would be some suggestions for replacement seats that offer a little more padding and support.... Would prefer not to have them extend above the cockpit but that would not be out of the question...
Thanks in advance... (it's a recent build within the past two years)

Casaleenie:
I like the look of the unique seats so I'm pursuing the option of replacing the low density foam with "Tempur" material. I've made contact with the manufacturer to see if I can buy blocks of the material to shape for my seats. I met a man at a car show who used Tempur in his aircraft seats for comfort. Another option is to use high density foam like Mike Blasko and Tom Merlina (hope I did'nt butcher the spelling of their names)did in their Unique FIA's.
Also adding 1/2 to 3/4 inch spacing to the front of the seat helps a bit. When you raise the front of the seat you are not sitting "bolt upright" and some body weight gets distributed to the seatback.

agressor,
I saw a block of that at a mattress showroom the other day... Wonder if they'll let me take it for a test drive??? In thinking about it..I remember they sold pillows of the same material and they almost looked like seat cushions... I may look into that also... I'll let you know how I make out and what the cost is...

How thick do you want the foam. I may be able to buy some directly from the factory. My wifes uncle owns a foam factory and he produces all types for the furniture and mattress markets. I'll find out what's available.

Ga.Snake, if you can get it, lemme know, please!, and I'll add my order to the plate. Seats are the only part of this car that I don't like; after half an hour there's no doubt I'm sitting on plywood. Maybe good for hemorrhoids but nuthin else. [:P]

My contact at Tempur hasn't returned my call in a while so I will try again this afternoon. Will advise as soon as I hear anything. Casaleeie has a good thought on using the Tempur products that are available. The pillow and neck pillow look like they could be cut down and reshaped to replace the existing seat foam. -Aggressor
