Something Different
Hey guys - we keep beating up the same old topics, so I thought I would start a new one. I considered this last night but decided to wait and sleep on it to see if anything new and/or controversial popped up - nada (nothing).
I don't presently have any mechanical issues (other than dreaming of Brent's webers), so let's try this. Any of you guys out in the east, mid-west, or southeast wearing shorts yet? This was the driver for my previous question regarding heat shields....

Phil,
What do you think the term snake bite really refers to? I have just one so far, but it was only because someone hit my car, and I jumped out too fast to see how bad it was.
I'm obsessive about warning people about the pipes when either riding in, or getting near my car after shutting it down. So far, so good.....
BTW, there a great prescription ointment called Silver Sulfadiazine, that will fade the scar very nicely. My wife runs a Plastic Surgeon's office. Ask your Dr. about it. Mine's almost gone after 8 months of use.[B)]

I saw a Superformace car last weekend. It had a warning label in the door jam, visable as you open the door. Maybe a good idea.

Phil,
In my opinion shorts dont go with Cobra's or Motorcycles.
Steve, I saw the signs on the SuperFormance too, can't say that that will help. The one's in the car wont open the door then read the Warning, and the ones outside cant see it????
I have run up against my side pipes with jeans on and it lets you know real quick it's hot, but you don't get the burn.

Nice one Phil.....Trying to rub it in again.....
Nobody that I know of here in the East, or in my part of Canada
is even thinking about SHORTS yet...let alone wear them.
We just dream about that type of thing.
I'm due to get my 427 out of winter storage on Sunday....and guess
what...it's gonna be COLD...and Raining.
Got any spare rooms at your house.?
Mike
PS....I still have a slight blemish on my leg from 6 years back.( I was actually wearing shorts that day.)

Mike,
I can't imagine living in that environment being a native Californian, but it's all in what you are use to. It's been in the 90's here through much of March and April, which isn't normal. Mid-70s this week.
Clay,
Thanks for the tip on the meds. My wife is a an RN in a maternal newbron unit, so she's not much help on the burn front other than the regualr over-the-counter stuff. I'm also obsessive, about warning people - some listen and some don't.... I didn't and neither did my son [xx(]. At any rate, this added some diversity (I can only read so much about racing fuel )

Randy - Just for you
This was from last fall. Snakebite started as one big blister that got infected (green gooey stuff) so it had to be lanced, cleaned, scraped, and then cleaned again. Not fun! Doc did give me a prescription for silvadene - that stuff is magic!

The inevitable finally happened - I got bit yesterday. No pictures.
Hopefully I have learned from the experience and won't need to get bit again.

I was reaching under the car to connect my timing light to the positive on the solenoid...sizzle on the head. I didn't get any hair so it didn't smell too bad.[B)]
I got a double one time leaning across the fender on the collector.[:O][:O]

This poor guy is my local mechanic. The size of the burn was tremendous since his claves are more like cows. This pic was taken after a few days of healing!!! Not pretty. Luckily, I've yet to be bitten (knock on wood).

Oldblu--I liked that hat with propellers, yep, all of our gang has been bitten, some more than once. I wear long pants. My worry is children running up to look ,so excited, and burned. Such is the cobra-beast. Will-alabama
