    Gasman's motor

My short block assembly is finished! The crankshaft had to be turned, Lewis wasn't happy with the bearing tolerance. The new Eldebrock heads are going on this afternoon. With a little luck, I'll be going to McDonough next Tuesday to pick up the finished product. It won't be long now.

Steve - Congrats! I talked to Susan on Wednesday and latest update was my engine is done and just completing some finishing touches. I think one of my original oil lines was not long enough for the remote oil filter and oil cooler. Rain rain, go away ... I want to pick up my cobra!

Patrija, Do you need my enclosed trailer to pick up your car? The rain isn't going away any time soon.

Steve, thanks for the offer. I think I'll either try to get it Saturday if Bill/Susan are around or end up picking it up next week.

Bill has my motor ready. He is going to run it in tomorrow on a motor stand and if all goes well, I'll pick it up Friday and crusing by the weekend.

    Steve,

How in the world are you going to pick it up Friday and be cruising by the weekend. You must have paid Brian extra!!!

John, I meant the following weekend...guess I didn't make that very clear. The motor goes in Monday.

Patrick, you can appreciate how excited I am to see what is going on with this motor after weeks of anticipation. I'll be there tomorrow morning but thanks for posting the pics. Looks good except for the PCV valve. I gotta ask Bill why he uses those, I don't get it.

I hate to comment on other peoples "stuff" but I would sure look hard at replacing that starter [V]with a mini hi-torque before it went in my car. My 2 cents worth.

STEVE, THE PCV VALVE IS O.K. IF YOU HAVE BAFFLES IN YOUR VALVE COVERS. IF NOT I WOULD USE ELIMINATORS FIX FROM A PREVIOUS POST. MY TWO CENTS WORTH.

Steve, I agree with Rick on the high torque mini-starter. Heat soak is always a problem with the standard Ford unit (Same with Chevy--I went through 3 on the 69 Camaro). The mini cured that problem. Summit can get you one overnight.

Is this the one you guys are talking about:

If I have troubles with the starter on my new engine, this might be a good option.
