    Scaling Party

    The Shelby Club I belong to had a "scaling party" today (no, not flaky skin). There are two Winston Cup-West teams that work out of a location nearby and the president of our club arranged for a free weigh-in (all four corners)... how could anyone pass that up?!?

    For what it's worth:
    Total of my car with the tank 5/8's full - 2,620\lbs
    Front 47.8%
    Rear 54.2%

    I should have taken a camera - their cars are something else, and the rigs to haul and live out of are, well......... your jaw would drop. There was a $100K sand rail with an aluminum LS1 just for fun [:O]

    Phil, that is a surprising split as the front weighs less than the rear with a little over half a tank of fuel. Are you running an FE or SB?

    i weighted in at 2657 with almost 50% each end. could be difference in gas load,
    289fia with 351W alum heads

    I had weighted my car, BB FE with aluminum heads, intake, and water pump, with long tail shaft toploader, I think I have all the options. Aluminum engine ccompartment, heater and defroster, a lot of insulation, underbody coated with truck bed liner, coil over shocks on all four. It came up to 2648 lbs. I thought it was wrong[?]. These cars weigh in a couple hundred more pounds than most people think[:O]. The 2450 lb. mark on a Unique is not going to happen. Maybe a stripped down version.

    It looks like Phil's car and Rick's car have the exact same equipment but Rick's weighs 28 lbs more.[?]

    Mine was 2730 with me in the car, and half a tank of fuel. 45/55 F-R. All iron 351 Cleveland, I weigh 180.

    #4279404, with an aluminum-head 302 and Tremec 3550, on the local Fuel Co. scale (meaning certified by Wts. & Measures Gov't people), with 1/2 tank of Sunoco Ultra.....2390 lbs.

    It can be done. Was unable to split front/rear, just one scale platform. And, no, the car is not stripped; have padding under the carpets and in the trunk, all carpet is in, no heater and no top.

    Not exactly the same[:O], I have heater defroster kit, aluminum nose and engine compartment, and a bunch of insulation under that. Plus emergency brake, front and rear sway bars, Trigo wheels with the steel adapters. Then all the steel fabrication on the safety belts mounts under the car. Plus the side-oiler has those big beffy cross bolt mains[8D], and a 28# billet steel flywheel.

    Ditto. 289 with SA 354 stoker, Tremec 3550, half tank of gas on a certified scale was 2460.

    Very interesting numbers I'm set-up as Rick is except no manual emergency brake (vs hydraulic) and 16" Compumotive wheels rather than Trigo and the steel adapters. Oh yeah my 428 doesn't have those "Beefy cross main bolts" I've always used 2500# guess I'll kick it up a bit to 2600# give or take 50# depending on level of fuel load.
