At the wet sanding stage, the car is becoming a reality before my eyes. I don't know if I am alone in feeling overwhelmed and excited at the reality that this is my car. I owned a Superformance before this one and I cannot remember feeling as excited as I am about this Unique 289. Maybe it is the fact that I have been more involved in the build, even though a slight amount in the engine build, with Rick Bagley. This car feels like mine, and mine alone.

Enjoy the recent photos below at the wet sanding stage.

    Juan

I just could not resist in applying a little computer magic and see what the car would look like with tires and grill and windshield on it after painted.

Looks good Juan. I bet you can't wait to see the body with the street grill inserted in the nose.
Did you decide which mufflers you are going to use in the under car exhaust?

    H Justin:

I am so excited. As for the mufflers, Maurice and Allan are going to do the under car exhaust but I am not sure what they have as a plan of attack.

I am quite sure that whatever they have in mind is going to work just fine.

    Hi Will:

The color is somewhat similar to your car color. Mine is perhaps a little darker. Thanks for the compliment. After all the time of looking at paint swatches to choose a color it all comes down to gut feeling. This color just did it for me.

    Juan,

You're the man with photoshop !!! The 427 wheels look good on it with the front grill and windshield.

    Hi Bryan:

The toughest part for me has been the waiting. I look forward to each new photo the painter sends me as each one gets me closer to a real car.

You guys have done such an exeptional job on your car, I have not been as involved in mine. I just don't have the sklill set of a Rick Bagley, nor the space of a Butch Capps, nor the tools and the knowledge to do these cars justice.

I also look forward to seeing your car at the painters. Good luck.

Awesome work Juan even got the truck headlight viewable through the windshield, but got only half the roll bar! Amazing I don't know how you do it. Car looks great. Got a great Motor Trend Sept 1963 article "Road Testing and American Hybrid. 289 slabside, wire wheels, chrome egg crate grill, red (naturally), interior cockpit shots and a rear shot with luggage rack and duals coming out from under the rear valance, Open trunk shot, engine compartment shot also. I'll try to copy it and send it to you. I have a scanner but I think it would be too many bytes to post.
