Ballast Resistors
Got a question about ballast resistors. Is the purpose of it limited to reducing voltage to the coil or does it serve any other purpose? I've been shopping for a replacement distributor and am a little confused about what coil to use and whether a ballast resistor would be required. Thanks!

Mallory uses them to reduce the voltage to 6V, MSD does not, uses straight 12V. Mallory no ignition box, MSD uses a box. Pro's and Con's for both.
