Part 6.5 – Trunk to Bulkhead Fiberglass

Now that the braces for the lock pillars and seat belts are welded I can finish fiberglassing the front of the trunk to the rear bulkhead. It’s the same procedure as the foot boxes.
Start with a piece of FRP cut to fit and taped into place.

And then just climb in the trunk and lay up the fiberglass.

(Yes, it’s as difficult as it sounds, had to use Alan’s advise on removing fiberglass from skin after this one.)

With that done it was time to cut out holes for the roll bar. To avoid having water run into the trunk area through the upper holes I installed 2” PVC pipe through the panel I just made and sealed to the bottom side of the turtle deck.

Cut the pipe flush with the panel,

A little filler around the edges,

    Sand and Prime.

    finish sealing the inside.

    To be continued....

Beautiful work, Rod. Keep the updates coming! BTW, did you ever find out about the manufacturer of those seats? They look very interesting and I can't find them under any of the regular brands like Sparco, Corbeau, etc.

Buzz- I looked the seats over to try and find a name on them but came up with nothing. I'll post a better picture of them this weekend.

I went to the end of the internet and back and I could not find any classic style buckets that have the lap harness grommets like these.

I'll see if I can find out from the previous owner.

I came across a seat from a company in England that looks like it.
The Cobra classic at the bottom of the page.
