    Cobra insurance

My car will be ready in about 60 days, so I'm looking for insurance. Hagerty won't write Cobra replicas anymore, and you can no longer claim " '66 Ford", etc. Everyone else is quoting $500-600. Any suggestions?

500 - 600 every 6 mos? Did you order a 427 or FIA? I just took delivery of my car if you want to see what a painted DPK looks like. I live in Pearland, close to the Beltway and 288.

i'm with American Collectors, thru USAA, is $821 per year. 2500 miles/year. but if someone wanted to, the speedo cable could become disconnected.

i recently renewed with them, i couldn't find anyone else at a better price, and few at any price.

You may want to do a search on the site as we had quite a discussion on this topic about a year ago. I have State Farm and find their rates very good. Get an appraisal on your car and then get your insurance.

Parish Heacock on both the Unique & the Chevelle. I think mileage limit is 3000 miles, agreed value with appraisals, and they gave us a multi-car discount. Had to send digital photos of all the car details, and of the garage, proving that we had a safe, secure place to store the car. The people I talked with there seemed to be "car folks," and were quite pleasant to deal with.

One tip that would hold for any insurance agency, I suppose: the more detailed information you can provide on the build costs of your car, the better. I kept a running Excel spreadsheet on the Chevelle during the project, listing every part replaced with part name, number, vendor, price, and quantities, as well as any labor & material charges for work I farmed out. At the end, I estimated a cost for our labor (Dad, Cy, and me), put it on as an attachment, and simply emailed the whole thing to P-H.

I've got mine with Parish Heacock, 3500 miles per year, $1000 deductable, $35,000. value. Was insured for more but when rates went up, had to change. Someone told me if car is wreaked you can still salvage motor, trans, etc. Only thing to worry about is theft.
