I can confirm that this car was at the Houston Autorama several years ago, and all I could think of was why????????????????

At the same show that year was a beautiful yellow Unique that was put together by a hot rod shop in Houston that was partially owned by Ken Caminetti. I think they were a dealer for Unique back then.

    not mine

I am proud to say, I just went out to the garage and checked, That is not mine. It will be interesting to see how the bidding on EBAY goes. Very Unique!

Maybe it was abducted by aliens?

I, too, will be interested to see how the bidding goes.

I delivered that car to the owner in New Mexico when new. He wasn't home when I got there and his wife had me put in on jack stands crossways in front of the garage so he couldn't get any of his other toys out until he did something with it. He is a hair transplant doctor. The car is painted with under coating under the hood.

    Son of a gun!

CNN says this morning that Ken's back, and he's totally changed his image...

    http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/02/09/ken...eut/index.html

So, maybe it IS Ken's old car...

(Sorry, when I saw that on CNN just now, I couldn't resist!)

I didn't want to say anything just in case someone on this board owned it, but it looks like we are all on the same page.

The Roswell, NM, connection was not lost on me, either. It appears that aliens are now abducting your prize automobile and returning it with customizations from "their world". Based on the results, I think I'd rather have the anal probe.

Maybe NOLASTYANKEE will someday save this poor Unique as well.

Cool How Old is this car.?

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that this car is the brother or sister of
a purple Cobra I saw at the Indianappolis ( Canadian spelling ) Kit Car Show
    in 1991.
It was the first Cobra I had seen with double roll bars.
I think I still have a couple of pics of it at home....time to dig them out.
Both Alan and Maurice ( and their Dad ) were at that show...maybe they remember the purple thing....it was in the privately owned car section of the show.
    Sure makes a statement.....Pimp-mobile.
    Cheers....Mike

LOL. Nobody has to know about the "little green man colonoscopy", but at some point you'd have to be seen driving around in this thing.....way worse.

Mike, this is the same car, we didn't claim it as a Unique back then but I do remember the owner complaining because it didn't win peoples choice at the event. The owner bought a DPK then discarded lots of parts and replaced them with what you see, Oh well.

I see that someone has graciously signed me up to save this Cobra too...Unfortunately, I think this one is beyond help.

Reminds me of a saying...Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone.

Yeah, but.......we've seen the pictures of the Spence-mobile, too.

Pretty fair to say Spence fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Besides, when you're done, THEN what? I cannot imagine you without a challenging project.

Maybe we should all take up a collection, to purchase the Probe-O-Matic Cobra, for eventual re-creation / correction by NLY.

The Spence car wasn't THAT bad! Neglected? Yup. Filthy? Yup. But the best part of it was that the body had never come off...And you can only screw up a limited amount on these cars without taking off the body. Fortunately, the car had never been cut, but is sure had been ugly-fied.

Anyway, I see the auction for the purple-people-eater has been taken down from Ebay so the owner must have found a rap artist with too much money needing to make a statement.
