everyone....
i figured i would ask...is anybody interested in a very detailed posting of my
jag diff rebuild ????
i am starting with a bare housing/new gears/posi and bearings.....i can show
in pretty good detail how to go about the set up with a bunch of neat labor
saving tricks i have figured out over the years. i did some searching and
found a lot of info like "set the backlash to 8-10 thousanthds by changing
side shims" but no real tricks on how to keep your sanity while doing it.....
on a separate note i must say mr butch capps at mid south gear is a great
vendor to deal with. got home from work and on my front step was a box
with all the seals/bearings/shims to do the diff, less outer hubs, all ordered
monday......it is nice to deal with someone who knows what the hell
ya need without using crayons and large letters!!!!!!
here is an idea of simple this really is...these are the tools you need...
1) torque wrench...100ft lbs will do
2) calipers (digital or standard)
3) die grinder with 40 or 60 grit flap wheels.....
thats it !!!!
a dial indicator is nice, but not absolutely required, they can be had from
harbor freight dirt cheap(25.00) and they work fine. i also got my digital
calipers from them and also the die grinder. total cost was less than 50.00.
enjoy!!! i have parts !!!!!
