I noticed in the Unique manual and in researching the forum that you should disconnect the rear brake master cylinder rod when bleeding the front brakes, and vice-versa.
Just out of curiosity, why is it necessary to disconnect the rods?

would isolate front mas. cylinder from rear for easier job, heck, we just started the process and had it done no time. Will-alabama
Buy one of the Motive pressure bleeders for about $50-60. One person job, no disconnecting necessary. I was never able to get firm brakes on the old setup (MGB) until I used this thing. Just bled the fronts on the new suspension setup (current Unique w/Wilwoods) after the conversion with it. Firm brakes from scratch in less than 10 minutes. Love it.

That was actually going to be my very next question - if I by one of the Motive DIY bleeder kits, is it still necessary to disconnect the brake rods? I assumed not, and it looks like you confirmed it.
So which Motive products master cylinder cap fits our cars?

I never disconnect the rods. I bleed one side front and rear at the same time. Rock hard pedal... always.

Did you ever try this thing on your C6 or the Z06? I'm about at the point of pad replacement on the C6, and this power bleeder looks like the ticket for dealing with an ABS system.

I haven't used one, but everyone seems to agree it's a must have tool and works great on ABS cars as well. I plan on picking one up.

I think I'll order one too, and I'll probably get the adaptor for the Vette at the same time. I think with the newer ABS systems, you have to cycle the ABS valve after you've bled the brakes a first time in order to get old fluid out of the ABS reservoir. Then bleed the brakes a second time. I'll have to look at the trusty Helm manual to double check, but I think that's the procedure. Things were so much simpler in the 60s!

Yeah, that's my understanding from reading stuff on CF. A bunch of track guys were talking about how great that power bleeder works in the Z06 section.

I ordered the Motive "Pro" Bleeder kit from Jeg's yesterday, that includes all the various master cylinder caps. That way, I'll for sure have the one that fits the Cobra, plus the ones that fit my old Mustang, my newer Mustang, my F-150, and the wife's Lincoln. And all my friends cars, who will then want me to come bleed their brakes...
It's supposed to be here tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it goes.
