    Ammeter

I've never been able to get any sort of reading on my SW ammeter. The wiring diagram shows 3 wires to the + and one to the -. The ground is going to the mount and "touching" the case. Any hints on this or how to get the light to work. (The light works if I short across it.)

    Smile Amps.

Joe.....there are a whole mess of threads on this forum about ammeters.
I'm sure most of them work.....I've tried a few but can't get anything
out of my SW gauge ( 14 years old )....so I figure that as the car has been
running for 14 years with no problems...why bother...so it sits there...
The light works....but the needle has NEVER moved.
    Good luck .

Mine has never moved either. I've considered replacing it, but from the comments above, maye I leave it alone.

Mine "used" to move a ton - realized it was because the voltage regulator had failed. Added the voltmeter and replaced the regulator and now it barly moves. Good way to check it - turn on lights and fan at the same time - should see some movement.

My Auotmeter has worked since day one...... personally, I hated when a gauge isn't working - they do serve a purpose.
