Chapter 17 - The Marriage

All,
Brian (nolastyankee) here, logged in as my Dad since I am totally out of space for new pictures! But finally, after much anticipation, I am proud to announce the marriage of the body and chassis of the Spence car.

Last weekend in the cold Arkansas air we gathered nearly the entire neighborhood for the lifting party. Since our body has been on-and-off no less than 5 times, some friends had experience and knew the drill while we broke in a few newbies. In all it went pretty quickly...We were surprised that our undercoating caused the body to hang up in the chassis around the fuel tank, but other than that surprise the ceremony went very well.

It's been a long while since I have seen the car together and I had forgotten just how COOL this thing is! I had also forgotten just how little and low it was since I was so used to seeing it at eye level in the garage.

So now we are on to wiring...The normal harness plus the 100 or 150 extra connections that will drive the EFI system and transmission. Our next step is a "starting party" when we fire the motor. It's damn cold in the garage this weekend, but I am anxious to keep going so that this little beauty can sound as good as it looks!

Here are some shots of the car as it sits today along with the body-on event. We put on one sidepipe just to see how good it would look. No disappointments! There is also a shot of our reworked pedal assemblies with the AC pads and modified pedal lengths.
