    wheels...

I am fixing to start building my cobra and i want to put 18" wheels on it. My question is size wheels do i need to get (i know i can put 18x10 on the back but i dont know how wide i can go on the front)? I would also like to know what size tires i can put on it.
    Thanks for the help,
    Tripp Horne

The Weavers just did a car with 18s. They will have the information for you.

    18"

I have 18's on my Unique that is still in the building process. I have not seen the one Alan built but I used Maurice's recommendatiuon to call Paul Atkins for my tire/wheel combination. I used American Racing's new Cobra wheel and Kumo rubber. They look great off the car so I am looking forward to seeing the final setup. I would suggest getting Paul's info from Maurice. He will be a very good resource.

    Ric,
Your car is the one I saw with the wheels 18" wheels, I think.
Alan posted pictures of it. Was your car a roller?

    Yes Sir

Yes Naumoff, you have a very good memory and I am flattered. I hope to finally get the engine fired up in the next few weeks.

Cobrapower, if you need the info, I can reply with the wheel and tire sizes.

    Good luck.

    Size Matters

    Cobrapower,

My Kuhmos are 245-40ZR18 on the front and 275-40ZR18 in the back. The tread width on the fronts is 9.5 inches and the rears are 11.5 on the American Racing wheel. Hope this helps. With luck they will move from the the corner of the garage to the car.

    Good luck with your build.

    Talking Your AR Wheels

    Ric. S.
What are the actual widths of your AR wheels....Front and back.?
And what is the back space on each.?
I'm about due for a wheel change and have also been looking at those AR Cobra wheels.
    Cheers..........Mike

    The Source

    Mike,

I would recommend contacting Paul Atkins. He is the Unique recommended source for tire/wheel combination advice. He did a nice job for me. His shop number is 256 352 9608.

However I can assist, just say the word.

    Good Luck,

Mike, call your local AR dealer or just go online. Paul is not really in the wheel buisness, he is one of the best street rod upholstry guys in the buisness, he has upholstered more than one Riddler Award winner. He is friends with AR owner and has a good connection for getting wheels when no one else can but please don't call him unless you want to buy from him, his time is much too valuble.

    Thanks Alan.
Just for the record, what is the optimum Back Space for the 427.?

I think I recall from some 15 + years back that you told me it was 3 1/2 inch
on the front and 5 1/2 inch on the rear.

    Cheers.......Mike

You can go as much as 4" on the front and 6" on the rear. Do you want 15" or 18" wheels?
