    Toploader Front Seal Failure(again!)

A little over a year ago, I had the leaking front seal on my transmission replaced. Less than three thousand miles later, the seal is leaking again. Any thoughts one why it failed so soon?? Inquiring minds want to know ....

    Question A thought....

Are you using synthetic gear lube? Much has been written that the synthetics don't do much for keeping seals pliable; course of action once leaks appear is to drain the synthetic and go back to standard petroleum-based lubes for a good 1000 miles or so. This usually sets things right again.

    Happened to me.

I had my Toploader completely rebuilt after 20K miles and no leaking. Then all of a sudden, with 2K miles on it, I lost a front seal. I thought it was a rear main seal, but it ended up being the tranny.
