    Build Update

It has been a while since I have posted anything, so here it goes. The build has been going slow but a total blast. Working on the car has been one of the most relaxing things I have done in a long time. I can get in my garage and all the issues from the week before are gone in an instant. I have not been doing any earth shattering changes, just a basic build.

Now that the body is back from the painter and I have added the heat shield, made a bracket and mounted the MSD, building a heat shield for master cylinders and trying something different with my pedals. The pedals work great static in the garage but I am not sure how they will work once I get the car on the road. I will try to post more pictures throughout the building process. This weekend I hope to start wiring the car and I hope very soon after to have the body back on the fame. Wish me luck....

For those out there debating whether you want to tackle a project of this nature, I say go for it. It has exceeded all my expectations and I am not done yet. Also, what will it be like once I drive it?

    Here are a few photos

One more thing. The motor has been ran several times and it runs great. I had to repair a fuel leak and make a few minor adjustments. I am sooo glad a pre-ran my motor while the body was at the painter. It help me fix a few minor leaks and hearing that beast start up was worth every extra penny I spent on spare hoses to hook up the oil filter.

Here are some photos before I started the motor and something I am trying with my pedals.. All I did was use the dash out of the car for oil pressure and water temp. I also wired the key switch from Unique with some spare wire I had laying round the house. Once I finally got gas to motor, she started up and ran great. Let me tell you, she it loud in the garage.

There's nothing like building a Cobra to reduce the stress level. Looks great.

    Phillip,
    Very nice work!
    The paint is beautiful.
Very clever using the dash. You are doing some great stuff.
I find the same relaxation working on my car. All my work week can be totally blocked out and I enjoy what I am doing with the Cobra.
Driving it does the same thing.

    Thumbs up AC Pedals

Like what you have done with the pedals, that was the direction I was going.

Where did you come up with the springs on the pivot bolt?

Thanks guys for all the kind comments. I still have a lot of work to do but it has been a ton of fun. I just came from the garage fitting more parts. The nights are starting to get cooler and I am sure nice weather is just around the corner. I am ready to get this thing on the road.

Rick, I picked up the springs from Lowe's. Spring Assortment part# 543000 Sometimes Lowe's has more variety of parts than my local AutoCenter. Lowe's had a better selection of rubber grommets than all the auto parts stores in town. If anyone knows the best location for rubber grommets, please let me know.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Phillip,

Building the the car was one of most fun projects I have every done!! Driving the car is a blast as you will find out shortly!!!

I like the pedals for the clutch and brake. Are you going to do the same for the gas pedal?

I found grommets from Ron Francis Wiring and Steele Rubber Parts also has a large selection.

Ah, memories.... I envy you If I could do it over again, I would do it TWICE!

btw - I bought most of my grommets at ACE Hardware.
