correct me if i am wrong

i just clicked submit after typing a detailed question, but somehow i got knocked out of being logged in? any way, here is the short and sweet of it.

page 25 in the manual refers to a typical, non Msd system. like most of you i am using an msd. that being said, does wire # 36 originaly used to power the + side of the coil, get pulled back through the harness and get used as a "switched" 12v to excite the MSD? wire # 22 [yellow] was also said to go to the + coil as a bypass to allow a full 12v. where does it go if using the msd, stay on the pos side of coil [i wouldn't think so], does it also tie into the msd along with the white # 22, or does it not get used?
    thanks,
    Eddie

Here is how I did mine (mind you, this was 2003 and harnesses may have changed) -

MSD, Distributor, Coil, Voltage Regulator, Starter Solenoid, and Starter Wiring

·Thin red wire to ignition switch in place of white wire (splice red to white)

    ·Heavy black to ground

·Tachometer wire (#34 - gray) to spade connection on right side of MSD box (pull back through harness)

·Heavy red wire to starter solenoid – same side as battery from trunk

    ·White trigger wire not used

·Only wire used in harness is alternator wire (#39 to red) to voltage regulator BAT terminal

    ·Orange & black to coil (orange +, black -)

·Purple – green plug extension to adapter on distributor

·Connect fusible link (#27 – red/white) to starter solenoid - same side as battery from trunk.

·Connect #23 (purple) to “S” connection on starter solenoid

·Connect cable from starter to starter solenoid – opposite side as battery

thanks for the help. so nothing goes to the I terminal on the solenoid and the yellow [# 22] is completely taken out of the equation when using an MSD. let me confirm that we have comparible systems..........
ford solenoid [2 large post, S & I small post]
ford alt, with small voltage regulator attatched
    MSD box / external coil
    thanks,

    Eddie,

    Yep, the configurations are identical.
