    The hood is finished

The hood was finally finished just in time for the All Ford Nationals at Carlisle. I have attached several photos of the final shaping. I am proud to say that the car was displayed as an invitation only guest. We generated a lot of traffic with many people asking if it was the real deal. I was virtually trapped with the car answering questions from Thursday through Sunday and had little time to venture out of the building to see the show fields.

    Nice

Geary the hood looks really nice.
Really seperates your car from the crowd and makes it unique.

    How is it running?

If you don't stand on it - it's realitively smooth throughout the RPM range. Idling rocks the car a bit with deep thumping in the exhaust. The good mileage numbers posted before are history. I located a 7 inch 427 style crank pulley to replace the 6.625 inch. This change moved the whole power band downward by about 600 RPM. The redline moved downward the 600 also because of the blower maximum RPM of 38,500. Average cruising MPG is now 11-12 MPG(Est.) I am now checking my Holley power valves for damage as the downward mileage change is far greater proportionally than the 7% increase in blower speed.

I am planning on driving to the SAAC 34 National Convention at Beaver Run Motorsports Park (North of Pittsburgh) in August. About 500 miles round trip.

She's a real good driver but she constantly reminds you of the power under your right heel.

    Engine images

Thanks for all the good comments.

Attached are 5 engine images. The third is CSX3015 for reference.

My engine carries classic double pumpers w/mechanical secondaries.

Everything is vintage down to the SN60 housings, mounting brackets, pullies, idler parts, and blower belt. If you look at the 3rd and 4th images you'll see the fuel pressure regulator right in line and just inches from the blower belt. Not a great location choice. As you can see we have even replicated the "stupid" details. The pressure regulator in my car serves no function other than a 90 degree pass-through that replicates the original regulator. The fuel pressure is variable and must go as high as 12.5 lbs. at full blow. For example at idle I see 6.5 lbs. of fuel pressure and at 3100 RPM I see 9 lbs. on the dash gauge. It is controlled by blower pressure. For every lb. of boost the fuel pressure must go up one lb.

Geary really fine work! I like your firewall better as it is clean of wires, much sharper and the engine bay much less cluttered. Hope you can get some one to video you and the car for YouTube.. I will be a major view!!! Has Kit Car Builder talked to you?

Kit Car Builder tried to hookup with me several weeks ago when they were in Carlisle for the Replica and Import show. Due to the hood status at that time we are in contact now about a photo shoot.
