    Header to Sidepipe sealant

I noticed at homecoming a sealant was being used at the Header/sidepipe conection. Is there a gasket in there as well or is the sealant the only thing needed? What is the product being used?

    Permatex

I used Permatex Ultra Copper without a gasket. I used a DA with 150 grit to scuff the gloss from the ceramic coating before I installed it. Never had a leak.

Thanks Brent, That looked like the best choice to me but I wasn't sure about the 700 degree heat rating.

    header gaskets

i have used the soft aluminum gaskets from percys or earls both at the side pipe and at the head....nothing else.... 427 for 9 years. 289 for 9 years. i have never had a failure or leak .. to date. i just re tighten after the first 2-3 good heat cycles. after that i leave them alone.
