    Mather Field Auto-X

Auto-X is back at Mather Field (a retired airbase near Sacramento). It was Halloween, which explains some of the people attending.

If I have done things right there should be a pic of us at Mather a few years ago, using the airport for it's more traditional use. Travelling this way I can go 165 mph and radar is my friend.

    Been There

I was stationed at Mather many, many years ago (70-71) and used to race on this Auto-X. We used an old beat-up Ford Maverick with worn out shocks, etc. It was a hoot trying to keep that thing going straight and around the course. The car was constantly bobbing up and down as we went around the course. Had a lot of laughs.

Thanks. Brought back a bunch of fond memories.

I remember flying KC135-A Models in there while in SAC.

When I was traveling on business (prior to retirement) it always amazed how many people in years gone-bye had passed through the now decommissioned airbase.

    CA airbases

Norton and March were closed too. Used to have a blast going to March for Red Flag.
