Fess Parker passed away today. Some will remember him as Davy Crockett, the reason many of us wore coon skin caps when we were kids.
He was 85.

Greatest American Hero. Born on a mountain top in TN and killed him a bar when he was only three. I got the original sound track record. Somewhere have a 2-3 album pack came in a box Davey Crockett at the Alamo.

i heard on the radio that the raccoon population went way down during the time of his show since every kid around had to have a coon skin cap!
Great show!
Back in the mid fifties when Walt Disney did the Davy Crockett series I was glued to the TV. Sad to see him go. No one else that played Davy Crockett was able to measure up.
In CA he was know as "King of the Wine Frontier", had a very successfull business in the Wine Industry.
We still have James Arness, "Matt Dillion"

James Arnes was turned down for the part of Davy Crockett. Good thing too or he wouldn't have gotten the part as Matt Dillon and keeping Miss Kitty company.
