    speedo cable and gear

On the return trip from Carlisle yesterday, I noticed the speedo was not indicating my speed. Today I found the inner cable twisted and separated into two pieces right at the gear.

Taking the thing apart, I guess now would be a good time to swap out the gear too. When the speedo was working, when it indicated 55 MPH, the GPS indicated 60 MPH. The present gear in the car is 19 teeth (marked r 19, so I assume a right hand driven 19 tooth). Anyone know if a 18 tooth or 17 tooth would bring the indicated speed up 5 MPH?

The inner cable end to end (best I can do to measure it mangled as it is) is 61 inches. Anyone know the "real length" I'll need to replace it, or the part number for one if you've ever had to replace it.

I would call David Kees, he has every gear available. The speedo cable is a Pioneer # CA3015.
