    Wanted- Pre 1981 Unique

I'm looking for a 1981 or older Unique Cobra. European import regulations have become a lot stricter recently in regards to kit car and replicas.

    Thank you in advance.

Do you have a web site?

Sure, I didn't want to break forum rules by linking it.

You can see it here: http://www.exim-cars.com

The vehicles on the site come and go, usually faster than I can update it.

    Where do you live legless?

    Hi Alan,
You might say I'm not in the immediate neighbourhood. I live in NSW Australia hence the requirement for an early car. To cut a long story short, if the car is a minimum of thirty years old it doesn't need to be converted to RHD and can be registered without too many compliance issues.

kind regards from the land down under

    Hello everyone,
I'm a new French member of the forum and I’m also looking for a 1981 older Unique (289 FIA or 427) to import it in France.

You can contact me please at this address :

    Many thanks

Good luck with your search Fabrice there doesn't seem to be many true 30 year old cars to be found. From my experience there would appear to be a few issues establishing the real age of a car with any sort of documentary evidence in the US, which I can understand as 30 years is a long time. In the end I went with a local (Australian) car.

    regards

What if the car was built in 2004 and titled as a 1964?

    Hi Bob,
No not good enough I'm afraid. The car needs to be a genuine 30 years old (for Australia) to be able to register it and drive it as LHD. It doesn't matter what you call it, it must have been registered 30 years ago. I'm not too sure about Europe's requirements.

    cheers

    Selling your Car

All we have to do now is keep our cars for 30 + years and sell them in Europe or Downunder. Maybe even New Zealand. Only 21 years to go!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pre-1990 Unique Cobra

I found this thread interesting. Mine was built in 89 and had titled in Tennessee since 91 when I bought it about 6 years ago.

It runs great, too good according to my wife who hates the car, thanks to the 427 Side Oiler engine etc. I haven't driven it nearly as often as I figured I would, partly due to the local Cobra club folding, and perhaps because the weather here isn't all that conducive to a car with no top, no heater, etc. I've also got 18 cars which might be excessive so have had the idea of perhaps selling this one if the right offer came along.
