    Something a little different

I know this isn't a Cobra but thought some of you might want to see this. I have been restoring a 1957 Jaguar XK140 for a friend in Daytona Beach and it is finally finished. It doesn't have the original drivetrain instead it has a 350 Chevy with a Tremec 5 speed. he drives all his cars including his Unique 427. I also restored his 1966 Corvette convertable several years ago.

Very nice indeed Alan! How does that tiny stock radiator keep the V8 cool?

The owner has raced the car for years in Florida with no over heating issues, SCCA and drag racing. The car has big Wilwood brakes all around, posi 9" rear and upgraded shocks and springs. He said it handles great on a road course.

This is not hands-on knowledge but it seemes to me that the radiators in these cars were much taller and wider than you would imagine. The radiator is tipped back toward the engine to fit under the hood. Some 427 cobras/replicas have larger radiators tipped back in a similar fashion to get more cooling surface within the car's nose area.

Love that car! When I finished school, I promised myself a 1954 XK 120M. Came close a couple of times, but never was able to close a deal. Still hoping, though. I wanted a roadster, but the drophead coupe with that fantastic wood facia is hard to beat.

Alan - I got side tracked with Jim's question and failed to acknowledge your workmanship on the Jaguar. An XK140 is such a cool project and you've done it justice. Most Excellent!!!!

I remember seeing this car shortly after it arrived at UNIQUE and then followed the restoration progress everytime I visited the shop. The finish product looks great, just as most of us would expect for a UNIQUE project.......Cobra or anything else!

Nice! It's amazing how narrow that engine bay in between the chassis rails.
