    Engine is out

Developed a knock September 2018 so car has been in the garage from then and with life events and lack of motivation i finally got around to pulling the engine out to send off to the machine shop.

Did you tear into it yourself, Tony, or hand it off to a shop? If I recall, you and a friend built this one after the problems you had with the first engine. Considering the old photo you posted in the other thread, seems it ran well for many years!! Bet the car is breathing a sigh of relief not having to carry that beast for a while!

I dropped the pan to check before i pulled the engine. Car did a lot of sitting after the engine rebuild and ran great. I will hand it off the the machine shop but this could have been my fault. I added an oil thermostatic cooler bypass and could have got some trash in the lines when i installed it. Don't know just guessing.

Yep. I didn't plan on doing anything to the Cobra as i have a 1967 Mustang notchback i want to build into a vintage Trans-Am car and this is a setback for the start of that project.

That sounds interesting! You will have to keep us posted once you can start it. Hopefully, the 427 won't be too messed up!

    Thanks for asking.
Well it needs crank, rods and pistons. Pistons are ordered from Diamond. 4 weeks to make. There is a gouge in one of the cylinders that the engine builder said would not seal up so it will have to go another .005 over so that's why the new pistons. Keeping the solid lifter cam as there is really no gain for me to switch to a hydraulic roller. Hoping to get it back together in time to take it to the Classics at Barber Motorsports park in May.
