    Powermaster starter housing cracked

This was a shock. Went to start the car and it would crank over and wouldn't start then the starter began making a grinding noise.
It is a Powermaster 9606 with 18k miles on it.
I reached out to Powermaster to see if they sold this part.

Threw a stock starter on it I had setting in a cabinet and i am back in business for now.

Wow, Tony! That's a surprise. Were you able to get the replacement part?

You would think. They do have competition. Could lose a customer who would not recommend them because of lack of customer support

    Talking

I called Powermaster and asked for the parts department. When i spoke with Ed he said he hadn't seen my email. He looked it to see the pictures.
He told me the assembly is tricky in that area and Powermaster would rather me send it so they could thoroughly check it out. So I packed it up abd sent it out to them.
We played a little phone tag Friday but when i talked to Ed he said the starter took a hard hit. (Back fire or high compression lock) that broke the housing. He could also see some low voltage carbon marks on the contacts.
Well that was the bad news.
The good news is their repair policies. They will sell me a new starter for $118 plus shipping!! That is 50% off the cost of a new one.
They will be shipping it out Tuesday.
If I would have caught his first call they would have shipped it out Friday.

    Powermaster has totally redeemed themselves!
    Lessons learned, nextime call somebody!

Great news, Tony! Glad it is working for the better. A brand new unit will be a big plus.

Yep, it came in Friday so i changed it out Saturday. I also adjusted the valves and changed my valvecovers from the finned aluminum ones to the chrome pentroof ones.
