juanone 289 carbuild 14
Car just came back from exhaust shop and Alan just sent me these pictures of the car with the undercar exhaust. Love those chrome tips. Getting even closer to reality. Alan put a dummy engine on the chassis for exhaust fit.

Juan,
Does not look like much room for suspension travel above the axle bearing carriers. Maybe it is just the camera angle, but it sure looks close to me.

Hi Keith:
It sure does look that way. I am quite sure that Alan has already taken that into account but thanks for the tip, I will ask Alan anyway next time I talk to him.

I am sure Alan will love this comment.)-:
It looks like the driveshaft is too short.????
Maybe just a mock up piece.
Looks great juan!!
What are those large oval things in the pipe just under the seats. Looks like a ground clearence issue. Get rid of them (-:

Hi Brent:
I am getting close to taking possesion of the car, I am stoked. The mufflers do look a little big but Rick and I will take a look and make any adjustments necessary. We are having the exhaust ceramic coated and we will have to remove the exhaust so if any changes are needeed we will make them then.
Body will go on the chassis today. I also made my last payment installment today so the car should be very close to being finished.

As far as travel, compression on these cars in less than 3 inches and probably less than 2 inches on most I have seen. I see no problems here. As far as the mufflers, it appears to me they are higher than the scattershield, so we should be good to go.

Juan,
You putting any sort of reflective panels above the mufflers? I wonder what kind of heat they will produce?

I may have to install some heat deflectors over the mufflers when we take the exhaust out for ceramic coating. Thanks for the idea.

Guess I missed a lot of what lead up to this build, but what is with the under carriage mufflers?
Oh, and what is a dummy engine? A small block?

If you go to the begining of the threads "Juanone 289 Build" you will understand the look of car I am after and the undercar exhaust will make sense.

Your car is looking very nice Juan. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the car with the grill installed, I still think thit is one of the best features of your build. As far as the exhaust goes, do you know what size of the tubing is under the car?
Also, I thought you could use the following link to photoshop this ERA.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...Name=WDVW&rd=1
I'm sure you have seen this car before, it is a FIA built by ERA that has been set up the way your Unique will be, but blue with a red interior. This is a very nice car, and I really like the street dash layout.

OK...but whats a Cobra without side pipes??
I agree about the muffler comment...take them out unless it is illegal in your area...at the very least, replace them with some small glass packs...they still make those??

Hi Mike:
I owned a Superformance up to this last January and had side pipes. They looked great and sounded awesome with my 427W Stroker but the look and sound I am after is that of a touring roadster sort of like a Jag XKE, Jensen Healy, 289 Street Cobra.
Besides that I cannot stand any more tattoos from hot sidepipes and the sound of Glass Packs is a little tacky for the car I am after. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, I know where Crittenden Drive is...out near the Fair Grounds. Been there many times...Only reason I ever noted that is I grew up on a Crittenden Rd in NY.
BTW, wasn't trying to be funny or tacky about the glass pack thing...
