Rattle over bumps near steering wheel

Recently, my car has started to display a noticeable rattle in the steering wheel/column when hitting even minor road imperfections. Is there a bushing/insulator in the first section of the steering mechanism that could be worn out? If so, how easy is it to replace? Once I pull the steering wheel, what are the next steps to check?

Mike ,I had the same rattle you are talking about and I just tightened all the set screws on the joints and made sure the shaft was pushed foward, the rattle went away.

    Alan,

That was the problem. Both the bracket underneath the dash and the set screw that holds the steering rod from the steering wheel to the next section were not tight. Thanks!!!
