Here are some photos of my wilwood pull slave. I had a 1/2" bracket made and welded to frame. Re-bent existing steel brake line and added bradded brake line. I can get about 1-1/8" travel.

Looks like your son's Christmas gift works just fine. Thanks for the photos of the push slave.
The only thing you need to do with the photos is hit return and start a new line when posting each photo. That way they will stack on top of one another vertically rather than horizontal and run across the page.
