what is the finish grit that one uses for final body finish? started with 220, plan to fill depressions with filler now, then 220 again, and next 600, is that fine enough? or need to go finer.

thanks

It's been a while but this is what I remember. 400 and 600 is used after the primer is on. Use plenty of water. I seem to remember using 220 as the final grit before the primer is sprayed.

I used a grinder with 60 grit on the seams, pulled the seams with Rage Gold, rough sanded the whole car with 80 grit. Primed , about 3 quarts, spot painted with black, wet sanded with 400 grit, fixed the pin holes and minor imperfections then reshot the primer. I'll wet sand with 600 grit then apply the base and clear.

Be careful with the 80 grit and use an idiot stick.
