Who is insuring your car and what is the price for agreed on value of the car? Liability range of 300,000 and up, collision and comprehensive, 1,000 deductible. Under 2,500 miles a year. I have some quotes from 583.00 to 1,200.00 per year. Good ole State Farm is not in the ballpark. Any suggestions?[?][?]

Well....this has been the subject of much angst on other websites in recent months. Much concern over availability, $, and so on. I think you can be pretty certain that the days of $200/yr. Cobra insurance are gone. Unless, maybe, you live in outer Mongolia.

That said, I live in New Jersey and just got the car done and on the road about 4 weeks ago. Shopped around a bit and found what you did - prices all over the map and some not even willing to talk about it. Ultimately went to Condon & Skelly in Maple Shade, NJ, who didn't even blink an eye about insuring the car. What I bought: 300k liability; 100k medicals; 38k declared value; full comprehensive/collision/towing/etc; 2500 miles per year (other miles are available) - [u]Total Cost $539.00</u>. Had to bring them pictures, all 4 sides and the engine (this one very important to them). No fuss, no muss, no sweat whatsoever. Even downright pleasant.

So far, so good. I have an Insurance Mgr. where I work, 45 years in the ins. industry, and he has nothing but high praise for this outfit. So I'm comfortable too.

Good luck - you'll get it soon too.

I did talk to AmClassics; they were unwilling to write a policy for me. Humph - must have B.O., I guess.

Way to go, Elim - no sweat now! Lookout, world, another Cobra on the road. [:P]

Hagerty is another possibility - they quoted me $231 annually, 2500 miles per year, value of $30K. I haven't yet called them to verify.

:( When I talked to Hagerty, they told me they were not writing Cobras anymore; same for Classics in Indiana. Parish/Heacock told me that they would not be able to write the car until I had owned it a minimum of 2 years. Grundy refused to write the car.

OK, I live in New Jersey...and I know that this place is the utter pits for car insurers (just ask 'em - they'll all tell you they cannot make a profit here) and not just for Cobras. Mebbe they've changed their minds, just don't want NJ customers.

But that's not what has been said on other websites - lots of guys having trouble getting insured. One friend here has a Superformance, an NSX, and a '63 split window coupe and had them all insured with AmClassic. Until about 10 mos. ago when they sent him a letter saying the vette and NSX were welcome but not the Cobra, and dropped the Cobra from coverage. Nice.

I'm in the process of moving over the river into Pennsylvania and will find out what ins. is like over there - reputation has it much, much cheaper than in NJ. We'll see.

In the meantime, if you can get quotes of $200 - 300 on your car, I'm jealous. Maybe outer Mongolia (is that near Lousiana?)not too bad after all :D:D;)

Well...got to admit I never had the thrill of meeting him, but, yeah, I DO remember him. Where are politicians like hime now? May have been a bit...unusual, but he wore it on his sleeves and sure didn't have any problem with it.

You do live in God's Own Country, my friend. No worries there.

Well, It appears that in the US you have some choice of insurers.
In Canada we are pretty well limited to one company.
I tried a few US companies but they won't touch a car out of country.
I'm presently paying $560 ( Canadian $ ) per year for $500K liability,towing,glass,$100K medical, $50 deductable.
So compared to some of the prices you guys quoted I'm not doing to bad.
I have a 6000 mile per year limit, and no addittional drivers unless they have held a license for 10 years.
The thing that gets me is that I have to insure the snake for the whole year....and as anyone who lives north of the Mason Dixon Line knows....You can't drive a Cobra ALL year round....It dosn't like snow.
When I put it in my garage for the winter my Homeowners Insurance covers full replacement value.
I have to get a proffessional cerified valuation done every 5 years, and submit it complete with all the standard photographs.

I woke up my snake last weekend....yeh its May...but the weather hasn't been to swift....so now we play..June , july , Aug , Sept and October....****...It gets real cold and starts snowing in November.
12 months insurance premium for 6 months use...gotta love it.
But then I figure you have the same problem in NJ.....and Yeh Doug, we know the sun always shines in Bayou Country.....
