View Full Version : Door hinge covers?

I'd like to get a set of those molded ABS plastic door hinge covers like the ones that Cobra Restorers (http://www.cobrarestorers.com) sells.

But before I cough up $70 for two pieces of plastic, does anyone know for a fact that they'll fit my car? Does anyone else sell them for less? I checked Finish Line (http://www.cobraaccessories.com/catalog/). Who else is there?

Keith,
They will fit your can. Several Unique Cars have them on them. I am going to get a set and I understand Cobra Restorers is the only place that has them. If you find another source cheaper I would like to know.

Hey, who's car you callin' a can? LOL. I'll let you know if I find somewhere cheaper, but I get the feeling they're the only ones and they probably know it (hence the 70 smackers). Supply and demand: it makes us rich, it makes us poor. *sigh*

Butt -

Since they come two to a set, you get one for each cheek....definitely for your can.

Keith are you looking for comfort or appearance ? I put foam carpet pad on the hinge before I installed the leather cover. No more sore knee.

Mostly just looking for appearance. I've created some cad drawings for said hinge which will shortly be forwarded to a fellow Cobra-phile (who just happens to know a thing or two about vacuum forming). Maybe he can get a lower-priced offering to the market. There's nothing like a little competition to lower a price. :)

I have been looking for a set of these door hinge covers for 10 years. Called the number from this post and had them in two days. They look great! Better yet they feel great on the leg as I tend to rest my left leg against the hinge when driving.
Great product and fast shipping, what more could you ask for.

I was talking to someone about door hinge covers the other day and they had made a pair that completely covered the entire hinge inside and out and were held in place with snaps.. They were made longer than necessary to give them a bunched or pleated look... The bunching kept them in place and really had a "finished" look...

I recieved mine yesterday from the distributor mentioned in this thread and they look great. They're not installed yet, but they look great. :D You have to drill a small hole and run a finishing screw through them to a piece of wood (or similar) on the backside to clamp onto the hinge. The wood will obviously be hidden. Installation should be a cinch.

In this view, the cover is not permanently installed. I've simply placed it over the hinge. There will be a screw head visible in the final installation.
