Just received a set of custom floor mats from California Car Covers and they are very nice. Didn't like what was available..(nothing really). Had a set that I got from Finish Line with the word Cobra on each, didnt fit right, too thin, no ruber backing, may as well had a towel. Made a template out of some heavy brown paper and sent to California Car Covers for their Plush Mats. They are very nice, about 1/2 thick, nice stiched border, non-slip backing, and they fit perfect. Made the drivers side with a long flap that lets the mat lay down in the recessed part of the floor pan and terminates there. That part is working out very good. They run about 89.00 a pair and you can get them with Custom Embroidery for 19.99. They wont do Cobra , 427 S/C or 289 FIA because of all the bull with CS. Available in 12 colors. www.calcarcover.com:D

Eliminator,

Do you have a contact person there? Instead of all of us having to trace our floor pans, if there were one person we could contact to order it would save us some time.

Going to try this again....

Eliminator,

I agree with your assessement of the Finish Line mats....I'm tired of pulling them out from under the pedals every ten miles... I took the drivers mat and just pitched it to the passenger side to get it out of the way... Am definitely interested in the solution from California Covers... I've ordered things from them in the past and have been more than satisfied...
Give me a contact name..
Did you do the measurements on the 427 or 289?

I made my patterns to fit a 427 S/C,and we know the 289 will be different. They sent my patterns back. I will see if that info is on file out there and let everyone know. Someone will have to do the leg work on the 289 pattern. I will have my car at Pigeon Forge the week-end after Labor Day if anyone wants to check out the floor mats. If they are not on file then I will be glad to share my patterns. Al, I have the car cover from them and it fits great and is of good quality.

I believe my car has the finish line mats. One thing my builder (Bruce Botti) did was to install snaps into the carpet and may by the seat. Holds them in place very well!

Jason,
My mats had the snaps, still didn't like them, too thin and not a great fit.
For all others, I called California Car Covers and my patterns are on file. To order use my name Rick (Richard) Bagley, phone 502-9558118....You will have to use your own credit card!!!!!!
Tell them to duplicate the mats from my pattern. 800-423-5525

Maybe Alan can reply to this. I thought the chassis was the same on both cars, including foot boxes etc. Only the body, roll bar, and other misc. stuff was different.

The passenger side will be different because of the roll bar, the driver side is the same.

I am going to give my 427 S/C pattern to Butch Capps who wants some for a 289 FIA car, he can change the passenger side to work with the roll bar. Then we will have patterns for both models.

Another solution. You can just get some of the same carpet, cut it to shape and take to any carpet store and they will bind the edges for like a buck a foot or less.

Good thread. :) I have a set that my wife purchased for me. Not sure if they're from Finish Line or Cobra Restorers. They have a rubber back and are nicely embroidered with "COBRA", but they slip terribly and don't fit the D/S recess very well at all. I tried to find a way to attach Velcro to the back to make them stick in place but can't seem to find a decent adhesive for the rubber backing. I may try some industrial-grade double-stick 3M adhesive... By the way, have you ever priced Velcro? Based on square footage, floor mats are cheap as dirt by comparison!

Elim - What? No credit card number on file? Dang. ;)

Eliminator,

Just want to say THANKS :D for pointing toward California Car Covers. I received my mats today, and they are awesome :D I sent in the templates I made and received the finish product today. Black burber that fits perfectly (I'll take credit for the perfect fit due to the perfect templates :D). This is a very sturdy product that won't slip due to the dimpled rubber backing.

I would recommend these mats to anyone who is looking for a quality custom made floor mat [^]

Keith,

I thought of taking some pics AFTER I put them in the car and put the cover back on. I'll post some this weekend. They are superb [^] I can't say enough about them, though total cost was a bit spendy ($85, which includes shipping), but worth the price in my opinion.

I bought a set to fit a cobra mustang and cut them to fit. I then took them to a trim shop and had the vinyl piping installed to match the carpet that came with the pallet kit.

It had a thick rubber backing with pins

Keith,

Here are a couple of pictures of the floor mats. As you can see - you can make the template however you like and they will make the mat exactly as the pattern you send.

Wow. Much nicer than the ones I have. I like Brent's, too. I like the fact that mine say COBRA, but the quality of their backing leaves a bit to be desired. The carpet part is fine.

I have a new set of the Floor Mats that Unique had a couple of years back. They are Black with the White COBRA logo, and have snaps. They are for a 427 S/C Unique Car. I paid 70.00 for them from Finish Line, I will take 40.00 for them. If anyone is intrested send me an e-mail, rbagley@papesinc.com.
