Hi Guys (I'm guessing it's mostly guys here),

I just stubbled across this forum. I received my deluxe pallet kit from the Weaver's on August 30. I have removed the body and it went off to the painter on September 5. I waited 4 months for delivery, had it in the garage less than a week, and now the body is gone for 6-8 weeks (ugh!). Now I have some time to do what I can with the body removed while the painter does his magic. I'm hoping to learn from you that have been through the process.

Phil,

Ask the Weavers for a copy of the brand-spanking-new assembly manual that Clyde and I finished recently (Clyde did most of the hard work, I must admit). It will prove very helpful. Where are you located? Which painter? Which engine? FIA or 427? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Exactly how would it be possible for someone to obtain a copy of this brand-spanking-new assembly manual that you and Clyde recently finished? I would be most interested in laying my hands on either a hard or soft copy

Thanks in advance.

Keith,
I'm located in Roseville, CA (20 miles NE of Sacramento off I-80 on the way to Reno). The painter is Ken Pike, located in Yuba City. http://www.streetrodpainter.com
I choose him because I saw his work on a Unique, Lone Star, and ERA. When I delivered the body he had about a dozen FFR bodies in his shop from N. Cal, Arizona, and Ohio. After seeing those, I'm glad I picked Unique! The car will be Indigo Blue w/Titanium Stripe. The engine is a 406 from Southern Automotive, 4-speed wide-ratio top loader, 3:31 posi rear gears. It was difficult waiting for delivery, but that was a walk in the park compared to now - I must have put this thing together five times in my mind since it arrived. Should be fun!:D:D:D Can't wait to get started![^]

Phil,

There is plenty to do with the chassis while the bodys gone. Get your side pipes done and attach. You can make up a dummy dash and test run the engine once the pipes are on. I ran a tank through mine running it 30 - 45 min each time. Check for leaks, adjust valves, ect., ect. If you can get you hands on a radiator I would use it and not mess up my aluminum radiator. I used a stock oil filter mount and filter, dont mess up your oil cooler and lines. Take you shocks off and get with the Unique Folks on how to adjust, 3 adjustments, soft , med, heavy, I adjusted to heavy and I am satisfied. This will also let you check coolant components like your reservoir, (many leak), use a 13# cap maximum PSI for the old reservoirs. I actually did things a little different, except for the wiring harness I put my car together then took it apart again before it went to the painter. Have fun, we look forward to watching it come together.

Phil,

Congratulations on your kit. I know that you can get any answer you need from this board regarding assembly. Should be many "learn by mistake" tips you'll pick up on to. Keep us posted.

Hi Phil....welcome to the group. I recently finished a 289 car and, although I'm still working out some bugs, can attest to the fact that they are a ball. You may have noticed that there are not a lot of us out here on the left coast. I'm located down at the Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake/Ridgecrest. Occasionally get up to the Modesto area to see extended family. Good luck with your project. When you get questions/problems this forum is a great resource.

Welcome!!
Post pics and post questions often. It is amazing how much can be learned on this site. I just hope it gets more active and more people find out about it.

Hopefully we will have a Unique get together in the spring and we can all meet in person.

Phil,
We have three things in common: 1) same first name, 2) both live in CA, and 3) both picked the best manufacturer! I'm quite a ways from being on the road... but, Modesto, isn't "that" far away. Maybe some day in '04?

It was in one piece when I received! All - Any help on how to get these digital pictures sized and contrasted properly would be appreciated.

Try using a smaller resolution like 640 x 480 and setting the camera to fine. You want it to be a small image with high color. What kind on camera are you using.

BTW - That side pipe is backwards. :)

Patrick,
Oh, thanks for point out the side pipe configuration - I was wondeing why it wouldn't fit!?! The camera is an Olympus D-550 Zoom. I'll accept any and all advice! I'll diddle around with it and see what I can do. Is there any way to correct the pics I've already taken?
Thanks!

I concur, I'm loving the Unique... It's the second best Cobra replica you can buy.. the reason I know this is because everyone tells me that theirs is the best..
Seriously, I'm delighted with the quality and service. You'll never be sorry for picking a Unique..

Ah, the things you can do with a little assistance from friends and reading the directions! :D Again - anyway to convert the pics I have already taken.

You can resize them smaller with a graphics software package. You can't do much with the color definition. It's probably best to reshoot those pictures.
