Looks great! I'm curious about the thermal insulation - recommended by someone, or your own idea? Glue or ?

Brent looks GOOD! Maybe we can get Turnpike Boy to come South for the Spring get together and we can line up all of these Candy Apple Red Cars....have to get Ralph Scott too!!
With all that insulation you will need a heater too.

Phil,
I actually put the car together last year and drove it about 600 miles. I had never built one of these cars and I wanted to "try it" forst. The fiberglass area around the headers cracked fron the heat and my feet were hot. Butch Capps also suggested insulating the underside of the fenders over the header area to protect the paint finish in that area. On his first car Butch did not do this and you can see the mesh print of the fiberglass in the paint )-:

Turnpike that looks sweeeeeet.

Eliminator that sounds great. You both have later serial #s than me. I guess I'm slow.

Go South? In the spring?

I believe that's when God himself decides the planet is pretty nice, especially down south.

Got a brother in AtLanta (Marietta, actually)who might let me put up for a couple days. Your spring to-do close by there?

Since the wife is a teacher might have to do this by meself...heeheehee! :D:D

I used some of that "glue-on" insulation on the footboxes and it has been a royal pain in my ass. It is the one thing that I [u]REALLY</u> wish I had not done. The adhesive (at least for the brand I used) simply does not hold up well over time. The insulation is peeling off and the sticky area behind it has naturally picked up lots of tiny rocks and grime. It looks terrible. I really wish I had at least installed aluminum panels over the insulation.

Or perhaps I just used the wrong brand. Fixing it now is a real issue due to space and access limitations. (Look at a completed car sometime and consider how to install aluminum panels to the footboxes... not trivial.)

Richard,
Will have to look it up, yours look real close to Brent's and mine. Mine is a 1966 Ford Color, Candy Apple Red, PPG Paint, the white is Ford Performance White also PPG. I notice that mine changes quite a bit from bright sunshine to shade or clody conditions. Your's looks real good! Next May we could have a RED caravan heading to Gadsden for Homecoming 2004. Looks like you have the narrow stripes and mine are wide.
