Silk

I used to know the capacity of the gas tank, but somewhere along the way I've forgotten it. [?] :( Mine's an FIA, but I'm assuming the tank's the same size as the one on the 427. Can someone fill me in here?

Thanks

I seem to remember 22 gallons, but I'm not sure. I could use 42 :D
You can measure the tank and convert the cubic inches to gallons.
1 CF = 7.4805 Gals or 1 Gal = 231 CI. I have a 1.7142857 Gallon motor

Just went out and measured my tank (FIA) and it is 16" X 28" X 10" which works out to about 19 gallons plus or minus a 1/2 gallon.

Hm-m-m-m..... I'm thinking it's 16 gallon, although it's sitting in the corner of the garage accumulating dust right now. With a little luck in a few months I'll be able to find out!

Why?

#1 I stacked things in the order of disassembly and it's at the bottom.

#2 I flunked general math in school :D:D:D

Thanks, guys. I'm going to assume 20 gallons based on the brochure and GeorgiaSnake's expert calculations. :D Course if it turns out to be 16 gallons . . . well, you'll hear from me! :( :( :)

I asked this question several months ago and the Weavers replied that it was 20gal... The way they set it up was that it starts to show empty with 5 gal left in tank...;)

This is easy... it's a "three-quarter tank". That means you can drive until you've burned three-quarters of a tank, then you better find a gas station FAST! :D

Seriously, it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 to 20 gallons. I never let mine get below 1/4 tank.

My sending unit is a bit fickle and drops off a cliff when it reads half a tank. I don't mind driving on empty if I'm fairly confident I've still got plenty of juice. But I've been putting in 12-14 gallons and wondering just how close I really am to walking! [?] [?] Thanks again for the info.

here here, Have not filled up yet with out a spew.
Also, If shes full - do you smell gas? I have started
putting a racquet ball under the gas lid to solve that
issue.

Using a raquetball under the cap is an absolute must and works very well (and it's cheap). I've learned to fill the car much more slowly to prevent the spilling problem. I hate not being able to lock the pump handle wide open, but I also hate messing up a clean fender.

Silk - You're about 5 gallons from walking (which equates to 25 miles for my car).
