It's been five-and-a-half weeks since I dropped my body off at the painter. Today I just needed a fix so I played hooky this afternoon and the wife and I drove up to Yuba City (about an hour) to check out the progress. It's been primed 3x's and blocked 2x's - will be blocked again later this week and if it comes out straight it will be sprayed this weekend or early next week.

Believe it or not, my wife asked, "Is that the color you picked?" [xx(]

What is that blue body in the background? It looks like a "body off" car as well.

Has your painter done a Cobra before? Mine had not and I was lucky a friend could monitor it for me because he was about to paint and had not finished any of the openings around the bumpers, air vents, etc. He was 5 hours away and I only made one trip. Probably a good thing, if he were an hour away I would have been there ALL THE TIME. He would have hated me.(-:

Brent,
This guys has painted more Cobra's than you can imagine. He had about a dozen FFR's (what he does the most of) in his shop when I dropped mine off. He told me yesterday he pumps out a steady stream of about four to five a month. They come from all over the U.S. Here is his site -

I'm fortunate having him so close, and believe me, it has been extremely difficult to not pester him. I've called once (after 4 weeks) and visited once (after 5 1/2 weeks). BTW, did you receive my e-mail of dumb questions? [?]

Brent,

Indigo Blue w/Titanuim stripes. Pictures will be posted when completed.

The e-mail was requesting photos of where you drilled your firewall holes for the wiring harness. Also, I have read posts recommending mounting the fuse panel on the driver side and the MSD box on the passenger side (both behind the dash). Just wondering what you did.

I have tried to limit the ammount of holes in the firewall as much as possible. My MSD box and fuse panel are mounted on the passenger side of the car. I made a bracket that extends upward fron the steel tubing behind the dash and mounted them to it. The only hole in my firewall is at the very top in front of the driver for the wiring to go to the front of the car. It is up in the fender area and can not be seen. The wiring for the motor runs down through the top of the tunnel across the oil pan rail on the passenger side and up the front of the motor. I did not want any wires laying across the top of the motor. I mounted my solenoid on the frame below the steel brace used for the front roll bar mount on a 289 car it is about 12" behind starter on the inside of the passenger frame rail. It seemed to make sense as the solenoid, starter, alternator, and water temp. sending unit are all on the pass side of the car.
It all seemed to work out ok and you can't see it.
