Finally!! I subscribed some time ago and had trouble getting on, but since I don't own a Cobra yet it was no big deal...until today. I just talked to Alan Weaver on the phone and my build starts tomorrow. I hope to use AFR 205 heads on a 418W and he doesn't have a template for those heads to make the headers with. The folks at AFR's tech line say that the ports are only raised .0150" and shouldn't affect anything, but one of the dealers says that it's the deck height (.75") that will affect the headers. No problemo, just buy a set and send them down to Gadsden so Maurice can mock up the headers, except they seem to be back-ordered 8-10 weeks from AFR. Has anyone used this setup on their car and, if so, do you have any advice that will help me get my kit home without the extra wait? Thanks in advance, guys.

Way to go Bill you will love the experience. I went with the Edlbrock heads per my builders advice so I didn't have the issue. I'm sure someone here or on CC has some experience with the AFR 205's.

I can't help you with this issue, but congratulations on pulling the trigger and choosing a Unique. I can tell you from personal experience this next 15 weeks (or whatever Alan quoted you) will be the longest of your life..... but well worth the wait! WELCOME :D[^]:D

Thanks for all the comebacks, guys. Randy, what heads did you go with on your build? I understand that the Vic Jr.'s have raised exhaust ports also, but not as much as the AFR's. I chose the 205's because they seem to be the best solution to a big stroker's appetite for air, and they flow well right out of the box. I'll start calling around the country today to see if I can find someone with a set on the shelf.

Just an update. I don't have a Cobra yet but I now have a georgeous set of AFR 205's sitting in my den. They're almost too pretty to stick under the hood. They'll make great conversation pieces until the engine is built. Bill

I have Edelbrock Performer RPM heads that have been ported and polished and port matched Edelbrock Performer RPM intake.
