:D No problem
If you look at the back of the rearend you will see where the two outer support arms connect to the center housing.
http://www.uniquecobra.com/uploaded/Brent/DSCN0418.JPG

Under these arms are 8-5/16 fine thread holes. The plate connects these and makes the rear housing assy. stronger. It is VERY easy insurance.

Have fun!!!:D

I checked the holes on my rear end and somebody had torqued the bolt heads off. It will be fun drilling and tapping them out. If anyone else runs into this situation, I recommend using a square type extractor. Drill the hole as deep as possible, hammer the extractor in and start turning.

The forward bolt holding the outer support bracket on the drivers side broke.(tension) Only one bolt was left to hold the bracket in place..
The plate add-on is one more thing to hold the suspension in place if something should break...

The mounting holes for the plate are part of the rear-end, what were they originally used for???? What bolted into the eight holes???

That Jag rearend is inside a heavy steel cradle that all of the suspension
parts (shocks & swingarms) are bolted into then the cradle is rubber mounted to the Jag body with 4 mounts that look like motor mounts. the rearend is boltrd to the top and bottom of this cradle. I'll try to find a picture or drawing and post it.

The Jag manuals refer to that plate as a jack plate. Its where you put the jack to raise the rear end.

Mailed the check today. Should the 8 bolts be torqued to a particular value, or should I follow the "when in doubt make it stout" rule? (Not to be confused with the "torque it 'til it strips and back it a quarter" rule which only applies to spark plugs.)

Going for a cruise tomorrow so I ran the car up on the lift and bolted up the differential plate.. Took about 15 minutes and a perfect fit...
Weather up north has been beautiful.. Heading towards December and no snow yet... God, I love global warming!!!![:P]

casa - What length bolts did you use? I'd like to order some Grade 8 stainless steel socket head cap screws, if I could only find my "Everything Stainless" catalog... I think that's what it's called... where did I put that blasted thing...

I didn't know this plate was available until I saw the topic here (thanks forum!). I called Unique, ordered it for $50 including shipping and bolts, got in 3 days, and installed it in 15 minutes or less....very cheap insurance.

Got it and it looks great (black, powder-coated, heavy-gauge plate steel). I also ordered a set of stainless 12-point Grade 8 bolts from www.TotallyStainless.com and I'm quite happy with them as well (under $30 after S&H). If I can get a free moment (and get over this head cold) I'll go out there and install it.

Got my plate yesterday. It looks damn nice and even had the bolts. Since the car is up on jackstands it will go on this weekend.
