rear wiew mirrors

i don't have an assembly manual for a 289 fia. the manual for the 427 sc shows the outside rear view mirrors on the front panels in front of the windshield. the one photo i have of the 289 fia shows the mirrors on the doors. is this correct? a photo illustrating the location of 289 mirrors will be appeciated.

That's a great FIA. (as an FYI mine are not on the Door. Personally I'd sit in the seat and tape the mirror on with double sided tape in various locations to see what actually works the best.

I agree with Joe, put it where you like it and can see it. I have my 427 mirror on top of the fender instead of on the outside so I can look through the winshield and I can see more than just the fender

One nice thing about a Cobra...there is no right and wrong because no two Cobras were the same.

My mirrors are on the fenders in front of the windshield and are completely useless. You can't even reach them to adjust them with the harness on. If you could put them on the doors, you would be better off. CSX2259, a comp car, has the mirrors bracketed to the windscreen frame, I don't know where these brackets are available.

When I picked up my 427SC at Unique, I asked Alan about the correct mounting position for side mirrors. Alan said that nearly all of the originals were dealer installed and, therefore, subject to the whims and notions of whoever was doing the installing. At the time I was there, they did have one FIA and a 427SC with side mirrors. The FIA had its side mirror attached to the door, while the 427SC had its mounted on the fender. I took several pictures and I'll try to figure out how to reduce their resolution so that I can get them posted..

According to Finish Line, the Raydots mounted on the windshield side post were originally used on some of the comp cars.

Randy, do I remember correctly a post on mirrors either on CC or here on uniquecobra where maybe you noted that you angled the passenger's side mount and got some functionality out of the passenger's side mirror for the driver?

I replaced the flat mirrors with a convex ones that I picked up at NAPA. They make a huge difference in what you can see, they do take a bit of time to get used to and things you see are a hell of a lot closer than they appear. I'm looking for some with less curve now.
