I am very close to making my decision to purchase a 289 Unique. The only pictures I have seen of the 289 are from a distance. Does anyone have pictures they can e-mail me showing different angles of the car so I can get a better idea of all the detail of the 289 versus 427?

The 289FIA does not normally have this double roll bar. A wife unit, requirements.

There are probably more 289 owners in this forum than 427s. The southern group is dominantly 289s and there are some beautiful cars in that group.

I am sure they can help you with your decision:D

The Unique and the ERA 289s are GREAT cars. But with the ERA you don't get two things....This group:D and the Weavers:D.

Truly impressive car, Terry. I really like the chrome grill and the AC badges. Nice details of the originals. On Unique’s web site www.uniquemotorcars.com they have some details on the 289 vs 427.

Did you check www.uniquemotorcars.com The Weavers point out the differences there and provide some pictures.

Great looking car Terry.

this link makes a nice comparison between the two models...
After comparing the two the choice is only too obvious....

Thanks to everyone for their pics and comments. I think the 289 is the right choice for me. I hope to talk to Alan this coming week and send the deposit to start construction. I was hoping to document the whole project on this forum with pics and comments. I'll talk to Alan and see if he's interested in posting a few pics of his progess on the frame and body. Then I'll take over and post pics of my work. I think seeing the whole project from start to finish would be helpful for someone just thinking about a kit project. I think I'm going to need a lot of help via this forum to pull this off. Hope everyone has a great Christmas. Thanks again.

Anthony,
I agree that a complete documented build would be a great addition to this forum. I look forward to watching it.

Okie (or anyone),
Any thoughts on how to document a build here on the site other than with post after post? I have significant documentation on the ongoing disassembly process of the Spence car and intend to continue until we are finished. I am interested in being the documentation test case, and I think more than a few people would be interested in seeing the Spence car be completed.

Input?

Tony,

Send them a couple of throw-away cameras to keep by the build site on the Unique...
Congrats... I think you'll love the car....

All we have to do now is pick you out a color.... You have no choice in the matter...... the forum will do it for you.....

Yankee,

The easiest way is to just start a new thread, "Spence Car Finally Built Right!" and keep adding to it. The danger is it could get lost over time with server instability, etc. Another alternative would be to start your own website and post progress there. That way you'd always have it both as an invaluable aid to others and a nice memory for yourself. I've found other's build websites invaluable in learning about my car, which entered my life already built, and in terrific shape.

I wish I had not waited so long,I should have bought that car. What a neat project to transform that car from a piece of @$&% to a nice car.

I'm new to Cobras and this Forum. What's the history behind the "Spence" car?

The Spence car went to Wisconsin last month, and the new owner was very pleased with his purchase.
