I have California SPCN #40 out of 500 :D:D[^][^]. First day of '04, and within an hour 40 were spoken for. I feel for anyone who tries to do this in a month!

I walked out of DMV and it started raining :(

Fantastic! By the way, you look way too young to be a Grandpa.

Clay - This kinda of stuff keeps me young...... I was born 1949.

Brent - I've been playing hooky the last two weeks trying to get this car to the point where I can drive it to the inspection stations.

Man-o-man, what a way to start the year [^]

(BTW - these brakes are still giving me fits)

By the way Phil, not being up-to-date on CA law, how is your car registered and titled....as a 2004 car? I lived in Palo Alto for 10 years as a young NASA scientist (first job after grad school). I've been thinking a lot lately about returning someday. My car is currently titled in MD as a 65. Would that transfer to CA under the current new law?

Clay,

Right now the year/model is TBD (to be determined). It will be registered by body style (1965) to avoid the smog requirements. You have the option under SB100 to register the car by body style or engine year (the block was was cast in 1970).

Here's the web site for CA DMV - http://www.dmv.ca.gov/fo/fotoc.htm

Here is an excellent description of SB100 and how to register a specially constructed vehicle in California - http://www.cobratrader.com/registrationCA.html

There was a guy behind me this morning who has an FFR, built in 1998, registered, and a smog legal 5.0 Liter. He was getting an SPCN so he could beef it up.

My guess is the SPCN's for 2004 will be gone by the end of the first quarter, or close to it, if today's rush is any indication of the pent up demand.

Conditions tomorrow - forecast is for dry weather in N. CA. [:P]

[:P] Man, it's going to take a 2x4 to knock this smile off my face [:P]:D[:P]
