Hello everyone,
Here's couple pictures of a dash i've been working on. Little more sanding and another coat of finish and it will be ready for the final fitting. Car is still in the paint shop, though i would have it last week. They had problems with their paint booth.Couldn't keep it up to tempature, due to cold temps outside.Anyway always find something to tinker with.
Glenn

Very impressive! Truly beautiful. How did you shape the ends?

Clay, Ifound apiece of cherry wood with grain that suited me.Have a friend who has a wood steamer for bending wood rails.Traced the vinyl dash onto cardboard.Made a wooden jig out of 2x6's. Planed the cherry down to about 1/2" thickness. steamed cherry for about 5 hrs. Placed in jig and clamped for about a week.Cut to fit, made templet to position gauges and drilled them out.Now just sanding and applying finish coats. Will have more fitting to do for final install. I 'm in the building business, so i had to have some wood on the car somewhere. Glenn

Is it just me or does the steering hole look too low, also you might have to rout the back of the toggle holes because they don't have enough thread for a thick dash. Looks good.

Man, that does look good!

And cherry is my favorite wood.
