Jerry,

I bought a set of new 17 Compos, and mounted the exact same tires a few months ago. I kept my 15s and BFG's for period-correctness.

But, those 17" Kumhos are nothing short of AMAZING on a Unique. There is absolutely no comparison since I've had the opportunity to drive the same car, in a sporty fashion, on both the old and the new.

I really like that tire combination. Later when I have money again (HA) I would like to get a second set of wheels and a more agressive tire.
Are the Aldans an external adjustable shock?

Just don't follow to close behind, kinda like flying through FLAK. Would like to know more about the shocks, cost, spring rate, ect.

the Aldans Eagles are 12 position external knob adjustable shocks,
we used the same 300ppi springs rate that the Weaver's put on the car,
cost $850 with springs and shipping for all 6 shocks/springs, here is a link to their website. http://www.aldaneagle.com/

ps, they are what I have on my Pantera (no jacking or removing just reach in and turn the knob) and they work Great.

Hey Jerry,

BTW, I noticed that you've made reference to shooting 1000 yard benchrest. Are you shooting .308, .50 or something else?

If it,s 1000 yards it can't be a 308. The 308 used to be good at 100 -200 yd bench rest, but that was in the early 70's. I use to shoot in the Heavy Benchrest Class at Gallatin Gun Club in Gallatin, TN years ago. Shot a Hart sleeved Remington 700 with Hart Barrel and stock, 222 Rem. Mag. topped with a 20X Redfield. That was alot of fun, shot against guys like Ed Shilen and the Hart Brothers. I am sure the 50 Cal. stuff rules the 1000 yd competition, they use to use 7mm Mags and 300 Mags back in the old days. We were professional Varmit hunters, mostly crows, groundhogs, and a occasional fox. We liked the 300 to 500 yard shooting. Just too many other things to do now, like tinkering with Cobra's. Jerry you need to fill us in on what the 1000 yards guys are doing. I know there are lots of new cartridges on the market now. We use to shoot alot of Wildcat cartridges.

Sorry that I am so slow to answer, had the 4-wheeler out playing in the snow rather than on the net.

The 1Kyd gun I use is a 30" Kreiger Barrel on a BAT bolt action on a Shehane Tracker stock
the cartrige is 6.5mm 142g Sierra pushed at 3000fps by 52g of Hogden 4831 in a necked down 284 Norma case.
Best groupe of 10 shots so far is 6.008" shot by Son Greg, we just started shooting 1K this summer.
Eliminator, they do use 308 win a lot in the Factory class, (just have to aim a lot higher to get them to the target.)
Here is a picture of my rig.

bittento, I'll get some pictures of the 72 Pantera for you, it is Midnight Blue an L model with the bumpers but has a pre-l interior with the dual-pod dash. it was given a complete restoration by Hall Pantera in 96,and I traded a 74 Jag XJS V12 coupe for it in 00.

got to go to Pocono race track and run with the other Itilan cars on the road coarce and the high banks, a HOOT chasing a F40 thru the turns and being able to keep-up or pass most of the cars. Crusing 140 on the banks i learned why Richard Petty liked to rimride, if you pull down to the inside in the turns it feels like you are going to be thrown out the right side of the car.

Jerry,
You are a man of many toys and it looks like you don't mess around on anything you do. Cool gun and the Pantera is beautiful.

Brent, really I have reduced the number of toys and trying to concentrate on the ones that I actually make use of.(sold several guns to pay for that cannon)
We hope that the Cobra will run and handle nearly as well as the Pantera then I think that I will sell it.

bittentoo, they are rough ridin, nasty, noisey below 50mph but above that they smooth out and the noise drifts off behind you, over 100 they are verry nice riding and extremly stable, sad we don't have roads that we can use them on.
