Okay, I give up. Does anyone have a NAPA number for the whole cable assembly?

Ben,

THe NAPA number is 615-1645, this is the complete cable assembly innner and outer. All you need to hook up is the speedometer on one end and the transmission on the other. Cost 26.29 plus tax back in 2002. I think they are special order cables from NAPA. Hope this helps out.

Ben,
What sort of problems are you having with the cable?

I managed to twist off the internal drive cable and when I tried to remove it from the speedo cable, it refused to cooperate...

Ouch! If you don't have your carpet installed it shouldn't be a big deal to replace. If you do, well.... double ouch!!

Eliminator,

Thank's for the info. That was the right part number and they're still special order, but it took less than twelve hours from the warehouse in Dallas. It's installed and working.

If you can get the cable out of the casing (mine broke too) you can get a repair kit in most auto stores ($10.00). Cut to length, crimp the end on and run back into the casing. I even shorten the case first as there was too much overall length flopping around. Oh yeah, Grease the cable! That's why I had to do it twice. Been running two years - no problem.

i just got that 615-1645 cable from napa and it looks just right. is there some kind of retaining clip that holds the plastic gear onto the cable?. it looks like there is a slot for one(see photo).

I recieved my cable from finish line yesterday. As for lubricating the cable, what works best? Lithium grease, Graphite or something else?

I think they normally come pre greased with graphite, I install mine like they come.

i use that delco brake grease. it stays in place and keeps things quiet. an open can lasts a lifetime without deteriorating.
