Heat Shields

Any of you guys running heat shields on your side pipes? If so, I know why.... any reason(s) not to?

It's just personal preference/looks/desire for originality or not. Probably a good idea for some protection.

I'm going for looks also. As a pilot with experience using a checklist before and after takeoff. I make it part of my check list to say to any occupant that the pipes are hotter than a cowboy's pistol on the 4th of July. So far no one has gotten hurt.

I feel they really detract from the look/originality of the car. I have heard as well that they offer some protection, but still get plenty hot to burn your legs.
The government originally made Chevrolet put them on the corvette, so if the feds came up with the idea, it probably was a bad one.

I have seen some Superformance Car's with them and they SUCK. After a year of ownership you and your riders will be educated plus you will learn to educate others quickly.
