View Full Version : Painted Side Pipes

I have my side pipes painted with Eastwood high temp satin black paint. I've painted the pipes several times before, but the last refurbishing didn't take too well - quite a bit of flaking, even though I rubbed them out first with Eastwood's paint prep solution.

I don't want to go the ceramic coating route, but I was wondering if anyone else used high-temp paint and, if so, what brand. The Eastwood paint is great if you can get it to set up properly, which isn't always the easiest. Just wondering if anyone else has had good success with another brand?

Thanks

Gary I used some cheap flat black Bar-B-Que paint I bought at Home Depot. It has been on the exhaust system for over a year and still looks great. I'll check on the name and let you know.

Gary it was Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat. I wire brushed and sanded the exhaust system then sprayed on several coats. I then used my propane tourch to heat cure the paint. They still look like new and I love the matte or flat black color.

I have used the Home Depot BBQ paint since my build 12 years back.
I heat treat it by running the car.

Randy, Mike -

Thanks for the info. I think I may try the Home Depot route this time. Nice thing about paint is that if you don't like it - you just repaint. :)

Thanks again.
