First of all, hats off to the Weavers! Their hospitality was exceptional!
We made it back fine. It was pleasure to meet so many great people (Rick, Cheryl, Steve, Karen, Jeff, Mark, Pat, Kelly, Jo, Brian, Scott, Tony, cannonball, and about twenty others whose names have slipped my memory). Special thanks to Kelly (bittentoo) for taking me for a ride in his don't-look-directly-at-the-orange car...
http://a3.cpimg.com/image/21/BF/33710113-4519-02000180-.jpg
This car will move! Pictures really don't do it justice. That color looks exceptional in person (and I'm not an "orange" kinda guy). It was also a pleasure to meet his wonderful better half Jodadine (or just Jo).
Special thanks to John (jhaynie) for letting me ride shotgun most of the weekend and for letting me use his hat to cover up my "Cobra hair". Here's a picture of him washing his car (after saying something about not caring how it looked... ;) )
http://a9.cpimg.com/image/B9/BB/33710009-93df-02000180-.jpg
I got to meet Steve and Karen Foushee and their two boys. Steve arrived with some mechanical issues but managed to get most of them resolved before his trip was over.
http://a9.cpimg.com/image/E1/BC/33710049-1977-02000180-.jpg
Here's a picture of Brent's engine...
http://a8.cpimg.com/image/F4/BD/33710068-51f5-02000180-.jpg
His attention to detail was beyond compare. Brent's car won "Favorite 427" by popular vote and deservedly so. I took several photos of this car in preparation of making some changes to my own (what's that saying about the sincerest form of flattery?). The car was awesome.
The car pictured below had a lot of beautiful aluminum work that really appealed to me. Sorry, but I don't remember the owner's name...
http://a0.cpimg.com/image/A6/BB/33709990-1e80-02000180-.jpg
The trunk was also finished out. Notice the removable panel with Dzeus fasteners!
http://a8.cpimg.com/image/08/BE/33710088-4a82-02000180-.jpg
This was my first Homecoming and I had a blast... even WITHOUT the car! Seeing how everyone esle finished their car gave me TONS of ideas for my own project. This event is a highly recommended prerequisite for buying a Cobra... uh, I mean for buying a roadster that looks a lot like a Cobra. ;)

Thanks Brent for the posting of the photos. For those who were not able to come to AL it was great! At Fibbers restaraunt my wife, Gayle counted 38 Cobras in the parking lot. The local police cordoned off the parking lot for us, watched the cars while we ate, and stopped traffic on the hi-way so we could depart in a convoy. Also at many intersections traffic voluntarily stopped so we could keep in a group. Of course there were a non-Cobra people who were jerks, but just a few. I hope we get a post of a photo of the mile long line of Cobras going down the hi-way. Simply awesome. Almost as awesome as the Weavers. Brent, Rick, Butch, et al the front bowl is not leaking dry as a bone. Got home Sat nite and unloaded and took the Cobra out for another cruise

The event was, in a word, AMAZING! The cruise through the hills of NE Alabama, with nothing but Cobras as far as the eye could see simply took my breath away.
I won't mention any names because I met so many great people, I don't want to leave anyone out, but special thanks to the Weavers for creating such a fabulous extended family!!!!:D
P.S. Duh....forgot my camera, so I'm counting on everyone to post their pics!!!

Rick,
I wasn't fond of it in the beginning, but MD is pretty strict, and I don't want to give my LE friends an excuse. However, it's grown on me, and I think it's cool since it's a 1965 MD vintage tag with an expiration reading 3-31-65.

What some of you didn't get to see... As some of you know, I was riding in the back of the column in my 9-second sleeper of a Honda (yeah, right). This position afforded me a rather humorous vantage point to view the reactions of bystanders as the column of Cob... uh, replicas roared past:
One lady had run into the house to fetch her camera and managed to snap a shot of the last car. Several entire families were assembled in their front yards by the time I came along. One young boy was jumping up and down pumping his fists into the air. Two men working on a tractor took a break to watch the parade.
The four-way stops were the best. The parade of Cobras (er, Cobra replicas) virtually EMPTIED one local establishment. By the time I arrived at the intersection, practically every customer was standing on the front porch of a local diner. Men would point to the cars and explain what they were to their sons or grandsons.
Totally cool.

I don't doubt for a minute that 50 or so Cobras running in a pack are something else to observe..... but if you've never been to the Spring Fling in Columbus Ohio, then picture close to 300 of them with a police escort, blowing all the traffic lights, and then running four wide as they decend on the small town of London, Ohio. That's gotta be the bigest pack of snakes to ever run anywhere!
June 25 thru 27..... you gotta make this one too

kieth is so right. i was the last cobra in line on the first leg of the cruise and it was spectacular just seeing all the people coming out to wave us on. although leaving the parking lot after lunch with the police holding up traffic as we rocketed out was pretty wild. and the cops were just lovin it too. that was another thing that made it a treat to be toward the back of the line. im ready to do it again. is it next year yet? brian.
