The guy next to me is trying to rehab his old CJ. It is a V-8 engine and he just put a new carb on. It starts and idles fine, but when accelerating it starts to sputter (kind of like my Cobra, or replica that looks like the tradmarked Cobra).

Any ideas on what to look for. The fuel pump seems to work. and it seems to have spark on all cylinders.

How about just putting a new engine in it? Just kidding. New fuel filter, carb, could probably use new plugs, etc. I think he was checking the timing when I left last night.

John, Tell him to put an SA 427 with a toploader transmission. After that, there will be plenty of guys that can help him.

id play with the timing. though it could be a couple other things, id rule that out first. its tough trying to diagnose problems where all youve got to work with is words on a screen. keep us posted. brian.
