Anyone ever use Meguiar's Plastx plastic cleaner and polish on you wind wings? Mine are in need of some help, and I'm looking for a product that will clean/clear them up.

Thanks.

Phil,

There are a couple that work very well. I have a boat with lots of square feet of eisenglass zipped into the canvas.

Permatex makes a good product, sometimes available at "real" autoparts stores. It's product number 403D. NAPA could probably order it for you if not in stock.

But, the latest I've used is a product called "Plexus Plastic Cleaner, Protectant and Polish." I got it at a BMW motor cycle dealership, and they recommend it to clean bike windscreens. It's also anti-static.

The standard convertible window stuff at auto parts stores often leaves a streaky residue, but I haven't tried Meguiars. Neither of the above leave anything behind.

Your local FBO will have good plexan cleaners. I've tried them all, they all work about the same...none of them stand out as exceptional.

Just go to a motorcycle shop....easier than hunting down an airport and cheaper too.

My brother is lapsing into "pilot speak." FBO = Fixed Base Operator. It's a fancy FAA term for airplane gas station:D, only they still have full service.

One thing you don't want to do is use Windex on plexiglass, will cause it to yellow.
I like the Plexus, Plastic Cleaner and Polish, actually comes out of CA.
Novus Products are good also, Novus #1 Plastic Clean and Shine.
Novus #2 Fine Scratch Remover. Always clean the wind wings vertically, up and down.

Steve,

You never did listen to your big brother:D. Rick recommended the same stuff I did above (Plexus) that I found at a BMW motorcycle shop.

I'll just call Rick and tell him what you need to hear from now on:D:D:D:D Damn....it's still raining, and I'm bored.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Everything is closed here today, so I called a friend of mine who has a BMW M/C and asked if he had any of the cleaner/polish mentioned... said he did and he brought it over this morning after we got back from a ride to a memorial. It's a two step process - Meguiar's cleaner (#17) and polish (#10). I told him I had some Meguiar's, but he said he bought it at the BMW shop and they recommend it. It is to warm to drive this afternoon (90+.... sorry, Clay... clear and sunny here). Anyway, this stuff did the trick (no comparison to the Palstx) and the wings look beautiful again. Rick, thanks for the tip on the up-n-down motion.

I had my Wind Wings made from LEXAN 12 years ago.
They clean up great with soap and water.

Could someone please post a close up photo of the wind wing hardware. I discovered my side vents were in backwards at homecoming. I think the guy that built this car may have put the wind wing hardware on backwards too. I'm sure I will catch --it from someone next year about something, but hopefully not for something else done backwards.

Those are right Phil....I see my little brother still doesn't trust me[:D:D:D:D as I showed him mine in Gadsden (like yours and all the others there).

But, what the heck.....we still love each other. He just doesn't think I know anything about Cobras.....probably don't, just enough to be dangerous.[8D]
